SurfAid - It is estimated that up to 10,000 people in the SurfAid target region of Nias have been displaced by the Tsunami and earthquake after a giant wave surged six kilometers up river. The damage extends 80 kilometers north up the coast of western Nias from Sirombu.

SurfAid is now collecting donations for an immediate disaster relief project which will be initially focused on the island of Nias

This project will include disease prevention, and injury/illness treatment. SurfAid’s medical team comprising three doctors, nurses, and other medical specialists will be mobilizing to Nias on January 10, 2005.
